HYPNAGOGIA
Die Musik des Trios HYPNAGOGIA ist eine Begegnung zwischen der Bassklarinette, aus der Klassik bekannt, der Jazz-Trompete und der Mbira, einem traditionellen Instrument aus dem Süden Afrikas. Zusammen flechten sie eine neue musikalische Textur aus der lebendigen Wärme des Holzes und dem lyrischen Strahlen des Metalls. Das Trio, bestehend aus Marie Tjong-Ayong, Joe Weinberg und Lutz Streun (beide in Südafrika geboren), zieht seine Inspiration sowohl aus beliebten Mbira Stilistiken, mystischen Maqam Tonalitäten und afrikanischem Jazz, als auch aus den Club Beats und klassischen Kammermusiken ihres pulsierenden Wohnortes Berlin. Ihre Kompositionen locken in vergessene Traumlandschaften zum gedanklichen Streunen, Tanzen und tiefen Zuhören.
The music of HYPNAGOGIA trio is a groovy fusion of classical bass clarinet, soulful jazz trumpet, and the traditional mbira from South Africa. They blend these elements to create a fresh, new sound that’s both earthy and ethereal. The trio, made up of Marie Tjong-Ayong, Joe Weinberg, and Lutz Streun (all hailing from South Africa), draws inspiration from a variety of styles – from the popular Mbira beats of Africa to the mystical Maqam tonalities of the Middle East, and everything in between. They infuse club beats and classical chamber music to create an innovative and pulsating sound that’s unique to their vibrant hometown of Berlin. Their compositions take you on a journey through forgotten dreamscapes, making you want to dance, daydream, and get lost in their groovy melodies.
